Lynne Berry CBE re-appointed as Chair of the HTA

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is pleased to announce that Lynne Berry CBE has been re-appointed as Chair of the HTA for a further period until 17 November 2025.

On the announcement of her re-appointment by the DHSC Secretary of State, Lynne Berry CBE said,

“I am delighted to be re-appointed as the HTA’s Chair, an organisation I have been proud to support and serve in recent years. I have seen the professional and supportive way the HTA has managed important changes to regulation, such as deemed consent for organ donation, as well as the way the organisation has risen to challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic, and often in partnership with other health regulators. I look forward very much to helping the HTA continue to deliver excellence in regulation as the use of human tissue changes and develops in health care and the life sciences”.

Dr Colin Sullivan Chief Executive of the HTA said,

“Lynne has provided invaluable guidance and governance to the HTA in her role as Chair and I am delighted this will continue with her re-appointment for a second term of office. Since I joined the HTA in January, Lynne has offered excellent insight and support to me personally as well as the HTA Board and Senior Management Team, setting a positive direction for the organisation with a strong commitment to regulator excellence, enabled by partnering with stakeholders and delivered by an engaged and inclusive workforce”.

The appointment was made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance for Public Appointments and announced by DHSC

The regulation of public appointments against the requirements of this Code is carried out by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
