Data on the Supply of Information about Transplants

Under the Human Tissue Act 2004 (Supply of Information about Transplants) Regulations 2024 and the Human Tissue (Supply of Information about Transplants) (Scotland) Regulations 2025, relevant clinicians in the UK are required to submit reports to the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) when:

  • They have a reasonable suspicion that an organ donation and transplantation-related offence may have been committed under Human Tissue or Modern Slavery legislation
  • They are made aware that a patient has received an organ transplant outside the UK.

Data on supply of information about transplants

Description

The HTA receives and considers each report which is submitted.

The data below includes information about the number of cases received.  It also includes the cases per quarter where the HTA has made a decision to refer the case to the police, and the number of cases per quarter where the HTA has made a decision not to refer the case to the police.

This data is published twice a year.
