Human Tissue Authority

The regulator for human tissue and organs

Transplant Officer Job Vacancy

We are the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people.

We aim to maintain confidence in the system by ensuring that human tissue is used safely, ethically, and with proper consent. We were established in 2005 following events in the 1990s that revealed a culture in hospitals of removing and retaining human organs and tissue without consent, so ensuring appropriate consent in the use of human tissue is one of our guiding principles.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of the team who support the assessment process for living organ and bone marrow donations across the UK.

In this role, you will need exceptional organisation skills that allow you to prioritise competing demands while still maintaining excellent attention to detail even when assimilating complex information.

As you will be responsible for managing individual projects, project management experience will be advantageous while a proactive nature will see you ask the right questions and solve any concerns as they arise.

A clear, confident and concise communication style with the ability to build excellent working relationships at all levels will be essential to your success in this position as you will support advisory groups, deliver presentations and be the first point of contact for a diverse range of enquiries.
