Public Engagement Officer
We are the national regulator of organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, organ procurement and transplantation, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, and with proper consent.
As our Public Engagement Officer you will take the lead on developing content for our website to ensure the HTA is providing up to date, accessible and clear information for the public.
You will work with people from across the organisation to develop and implement our public engagement and involvement strategy and plans with the aim to increase the HTA’s involvement of the public in it’s work. This will include organising and implementing reviews of the HTA’s work, online and offline; monitoring public sentiment; advising colleagues on how to better reach and involve the public in our work; and promoting public involvement.
Exemplary writing and editorial skills are essential for this role, which involves producing a number of online and hard copy publications, ranging from the HTA’s public e-newsletter to our Annual Review publication. It would be desirable, though not essential, for the successful candidate to have experience of using graphic design software (such as Adobe InDesign, or similar).
Previous experience of working on public engagement campaigns is highly desirable, as is a good working knowledge of web content management systems, and experience of general website administration and using web analytics.
The role will also involve dealing with, and reporting on enquiries, from our public and professional stakeholders, and supporting the various works of the Head of Communications and other members of the wider team as required.
