Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people.

We aim to maintain confidence in the system by ensuring that human tissue is used safely, ethically, and with proper consent. We were established in 2005 following events in the 1990s that revealed a culture in hospitals of removing and retaining human organs and tissue without consent, so ensuring appropriate consent in the use of human tissue is one of our guiding principles.

This is an exciting time to join our organisation as we embark on the delivery of a new strategy, which aims to build on our achievements and further strengthen our sustainability, agility and resilience.

As our Head of Operations, you will ensure that our strategy is translated into effective business plans that achieve our ambitious goals over the coming three years.

You will be responsible for day to day cross-sector operational management of HTA processes including licensing, inspection scheduling, business planning and reporting, as well as administrative support to the organisation.

This will require you to demonstrate extensive experience of managing business operations for an organisation or business unit, experience of organisation wide business and resource planning as well as the ability to produce and present management information that drives cross organisational improvements.

Your exceptional communication skills will allow you to lead meetings that engage others constructively and persuasively while your ability to manage a complex and demanding workload will ensure you deliver on time and to a high standard

How to apply?

To apply for this role, please submit your application via the NHS Jobsite, including a personal statement detailing how you meet the person specification criteria outlined in the job description.
