The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, with proper consent.

As our Head of Business Technology you will lead the development and provision of IT systems and business applications that support the work of the HTA and promote quality knowledge and information sharing across all areas of our organisation.

A proven, self motivated manager and team builder, you will use your experience of leading complex projects using recognised methodologies to successfully deliver team and wider HTA strategic objectives. In addition you will be able to build professional relationships across all levels of the organisation including senior management along with having a flair for articulating complex IT issues into appropriate plain language.

Recent experience of managing contract services from technical consultants as well as experience in managing and upgrading services and processes, ideally relying on the Microsoft server stack including Dynamics Great Plains and CRM will be essential, as are strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and solve problems by initiating or recommending action.

The successful applicant will have a common sense approach to prioritising conflicting tasks and not be fazed by managing a demanding workload. This will be essential so that you are able to successfully lead day-to-day operational activity alongside longer term improvement projects.
