The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, patient treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, and with proper consent.

We are seeking a Finance Manager to cover maternity leave in our small organisation. The role covers a wide remit of finance procedures from processing invoices and preparing monthly management accounts, to supporting the Audit Committee and providing advice on procurement. Therefore experience of having responsibility for these key areas is essential to be successful.

This post requires a self-motivated and diligent individual with highly developed organisational skills, to ensure that the HTA finance service continues to run efficiently. A calm and organised approach will enable the handling of a varied workload which includes delivering to tight deadlines.

The post is the key part of a small finance team. Finance responsibilities are delivered by the Finance Manager and a Head of Finance and Governance, reporting to the Director of Resources.  The post-holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Finance and Governance, requiring confidence and sound judgement when dealing with difficult issues.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic team player, adept at using excellent interpersonal skills to form successful working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders. This will include verbal and written communication of often complex messages to various audiences in a considered and logical way.

You will need to be newly qualified or part ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified, or have full AAT qualification.
