We are the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people.
With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the heart of our work, we aim to maintain confidence in the system by ensuring that human tissue is used safely, ethically, and with proper consent.
This is an exciting time to join our organisation as we embark on the delivery of a new strategy which aims to build on our achievements and further strengthen our sustainability, agility and resilience.
Who are we looking for?
As our Board Secretary, you will be responsible for providing secretariat services to our governing body (the Authority) as well as act as the private secretary to our Authority Chair.
You will commission and produce high quality agendas, papers and reports, ensuring their alignment with our strategic and business plans, so highly developed written communications skills will be essential.
It is a busy role where your highly developed organisation and prioritisation skills will be crucial, as you will need to deliver at pace to meet competing deadlines across a variety of tasks, including project work, while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
As a self-motivated and conscientious individual, you will work well with others as well as on your own initiative. You will need a flair for building excellent working relationships at all levels in the organisation and the ability to communicate with stakeholders including other government departments and the public.
To meet the minimum requirements for this role you should have significant experience in providing board level secretariat support along with a sound understanding of board governance frameworks.
