Types of research and compliance with consent standards

Research establishments reported their involvement in a variety of different types of research (graph below). All establishments complied with the HTA’s licensing standards, confirming that where research is likely to involve an area of potential public concern such as commercial research, genetic testing and/or the use of animals, the donors are provided with adequate information about this as part of the consent seeking process.

89% of establishments reported that material was stored for specific research projects, however, most establishments (73%) also store for unspecified future research.

35% of licensed establishments export relevant material outside of the United Kingdom.
