The HTA is the watchdog for tissue and organs. Our aim is to protect the public by licensing and inspecting organisations that store and use human tissue and organs for purposes including research, patient treatment, transplantation, post-mortem examinations, teaching and public exhibitions.
We do this by setting and inspecting against standards. Licensed organisations that remove, store and use tissue must meet our standards. When an organisation does not meet these standards, we can take action.
Please contact us if:
- you are concerned that an organisation is not meeting our standards, or you think an organisation is carrying any of the activities listed above without a licence
- you have a concern about the way that the HTA or a member of our staff has exercised or failed to exercise our functions
- you work as an HTA Designated Individual in the post mortem sector and a serious incident occurred in a mortuary
- you work as an HTA Designated Individual or Named Contact and a serious adverse event or reaction occurred in the human application or organ donation and transplantation sector
You can read guidance about each of these areas by clicking on the boxes above.
