Registration for the HTA’s Codes of Practice workshops now open

As part of the HTA’s consultation on their updated Codes of Practice, which opens on 1 September 2015, the HTA has organised workshops across the UK.

Government announces triennial review of the HTA

The HTA has welcomed the government’s announcement that it will undertake a triennial review of the HTA. These reviews are cyclical and ensure that non-departmental public bodies, like the HTA, are still needed and that they are effective and work well.

HTA appoints new Chief Executive

Allan Marriott-Smith has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). Allan will take up leadership of the regulator for tissue and organs on 6 July. Allan was previously the HTA’s Director for Strategy and Quality.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) have signed a joint working agreement, which aims to ensure better regulation by further improving efficiencies and reducing burden.

HTA holds three sucessful workshops for the post mortem sector

The HTA held three events for the post mortem sector during March.  Over 150 delegates from 70 establishments attended.  They included pathologists, APTs, bereavement midwives, police officers and biomedical scientists.
