Ministers are seeking to make two appointments to the board of the Human Tissue Authority

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking to make two appointments to the board of the Human Tissue Authority.

Our Authority Members come from a wide range of backgrounds linked to our work and they bring valuable skills and expertise to the Authority; from pathology and bio-ethics to commercial biotech, medical research and public sector experience.

The responsibilities of our Authority members include:

  • Supporting the HTA Chair in setting our strategic direction; encouraging and enabling the HTA to be a first-class regulator of human tissue;
  • Supporting the HTA Chair in developing the HTA in-line with our strategic aims while maintaining a positive, constructive and appropriate relationship with our stakeholders to ensure confidence in the work of the HTA;
  • Providing an independent view, a substantive contribution, and constructive challenge at Authority meetings and subcommittees;
  • Monitoring the performance of our Executive, holding it to account for the delivery of the HTA’s business plan, HM Treasury and Department of Health and Social Care requirements.
