Last chance to have your say on Welsh organ law guidance

Issue date:
12 December 2013

There are only a few days left to respond to the HTA's consultation on the Code of Practice accompanying the new Human Transplantation (Wales) Act.

The Code of Practice offers practical advice on the new law, due to come into effect on 1 December 2015 and provides guidance in situations where someone’s consent to donate their organs is not clear or where clinical decisions are complex.

Alan Clamp, Chief Executive, HTA said: “During this consultation we have spoken to health professionals and the public in Wales – and people living on the border – about how the law will work in practice and how best to make the guidance clear and accessible.

“The new organ donation law is a significant change for Welsh people, and it is vital they have confidence that the new system will work and that professionals are confidence in the system. All views on the guidance are welcome & with the consultation closing on 23 December 2013, it is now time to have your say.”

The draft Code of Practice and the consultation is available in English and Welsh.
