HTA responds to blood, tissue and organ screening parliamentary inquiry

The HTA has responded to a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee inquiry into blood, tissue and organ screening. 

The inquiry was established following fears that v-CJD (variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) may be spread following medical procedures.

The HTA submission focuses on our role ensuring the quality and safety of tissues and cells used for patient treatment and organs used for transplantation, and looks at our reporting systems and how we inspect and investigate shortfalls in standards
