HTA consults on updated Code of Practice and Standards for research (Code E)

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) has launched a consultation on proposed changes to its Research sector Code of Practice and Licensing Standards (Code E), the first Code to be updated as part of the HTA's wider review programme since its last major update around a decade ago.

If you hold an HTA research licence, this is your opportunity to help shape guidance that directly affects how you meet your regulatory obligations. Proposed changes include a clearer introduction and structure, new research-specific guidance and worked examples, updated guidance on the release of diagnostic material for research, and revisions reflecting developments in the regulation of Substances of Human Origin (SoHO).

The HTA wants to know whether the changes improve clarity and usability, provide enough practical support, and strike the right balance between clarity and proportionate regulation.
