Coding and import of tissues and cells for human application

Coding and Import Directives for Tissues and Cells are being put into place in order to implement a single European coding system. This will verify equivalent standards of quality and safety for imported tissues and cells.

Respond to Government consultation on releasing a dead body from hospital

On 13 January 2015, the Department of Health opened a consultation to seek views on the ‘release of a dead body from hospital’ good practice form. The Department of Health has developed this form to help hospitals have a more consistent, quality-controlled, and timely process to release bodies.

Human Tissue Authority announces fees for 2015/16

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) has set fees for 2015/16 at a similar level to those in 2014/15. Overall, since 2010, there has been a reduction in HTA fees of 36%.

Joint work with UKAS - an update

The HTA has been working with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to reduce regulatory burden for post mortem sector establishments with UKAS accreditation of their mortuary and an HTA licence.
