- Establishments should consider entering into Mutual Aid Agreements with neighbouring organisations in order that they can provide and obtain support during periods of capacity shortages.
- Where capacity issues are also being experienced by partner organisations which cannot be addressed through local arrangements, there should be alternative options for increasing storage capacity.
- Where a contingency is a Mutual Aid Agreement with other hospitals in a Trust, at least one of the hospitals should have approval for additional temporary storage if necessary.
- Establishments in a Mutual Aid Agreement may wish to consider setting up an email group with daily updates of the space available in each establishment, the update could include freezers and information about the size of the fridge space available.
