The Human Tissue Authority's annual conference took place on Tuesday 27 June last year, at etc.Venues at One Drummond Gate, Pimlico, London SW1V 2QQ.
Last year's conference focused on conversations around death and dying and amongst other things, discussed:
- issues surrounding the treatment of bodies after death;
- death before birth;
- the public perception of death and dying;
- death in the media – how the media cover death; and
- how the HTA's guiding principles of consent, dignity, quality, honesty, and openness work to protect the wishes of the deceased.
The event was held in two parts:
Morning session: In the morning, we held our public Authority meeting which provided delegates with an opportunity to observe the HTA’s Board as it discussed its business.
Afternoon session: In the afternoon, the HTA’s annual conference took place and featured guest speakers, who discussed topics within our regulated sectors.
During the lunch break, there was an opportunity for attendees to speak with the Heads of Regulation and their teams, to learn more about what the HTA are currently working on.
