Further navigation aids

  • A crumb trail at the top of the page on all archive pages is included to indicate which section of the site you are in.
  • All listing pages, for example news have previous, next and home links to aid navigation in screen readers and text-only browsers.
  • A search dialogue box is included on all pages. This can also be accessed using access key 4 (see above).

Images

All content images used on this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Graphics of a purely decorative nature include null ALT attributes.

Links

  • No links that open new windows without warning are included.
  • Links are written to be descriptive of their target whenever possible. Where this is not possible, the link 'title' attribute has been used to describe the target.
  • Link text is never duplicated, so two links with the same link text always take you to the same destination.
  • There are no 'JavaScript:' pseudo-links included on this site. All links can be followed in any browser, (even if scripting has been disabled).
    Visual design
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used on this site for visual layout.
  • A special CSS is used for printing pages (pages can be displayed in a printer friendly format - see help on printing). If your browser does not support CSS you will still be able to view this site.
  • A text resizing feature is available on Internet Explorer. To access this: go to 'View' menu, click 'Text Size', and then chose the desired size).
  • All the pages have been optimized as follows:  the main content comes first followed by the various navigation elements. This makes it easier for screen reader users to get to the relevant information as quickly as possible.
