Regulating tissues and cells for human application: the past, the present, the future

On Tuesday 25 March 2008 we are holding a key conference that will be of interest to all professionals working with tissues and cells for human application. The conference will consider past, present and future issues of relevance to this diverse sector.

Venue: The Wellcome Collection Conference Centre, 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE

Time: 9.30 – 16.00 (registration from 9.00)

The HTA began licensing under the EU Tissues and Cells Directives in April 2006 and the Directives came fully into force in July 2007. The conference will be an invaluable opportunity to:

• learn more about how the Directives have been implemented;
• attend seminars of particular relevance or interest; and
• network with representatives from licensed establishments, colleagues from Europe (who are also working under the Directives) and representatives from professional bodies.

A series of presentations and seminars will cover issues such as: the European coding system, quality management, and the future use and regulation of human embryonic stem cells. Speakers at the conference will include: NHS Blood and Transplant, the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control, and the Medical Research Council.

CPD credits

Members of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) will be awarded six CPD credits for attending this conference. The HTA will post you an IBMS CPD certificate after attending the conference.
