Tissues and cells for patient treatment inspection reports
Organisations that procure, process, test, distribute, store and/or import/export human tissue and cells (including stem cells, skin and heart valves) used in patient treatment are licensed by the HTA. In addition, there is a requirement for these organisations to undergo an inspection every two years. Inspections are scheduled taking this and each establishment’s risk level into account. The HTA regulates the use of human tissues and cells for use in patient treatment to ensure that they meet high standards of safety and quality in order to minimise the risk of disease transmission. The HTA also ensures that the import of human tissue into the UK for use in patient treatment meets the same high standards of quality and safety.
Listed below are the reports for the inspections that have been conducted since November 2010. If you would like to find out more information or ask question about an inspection report, please contact a Regulation Manager on 020 7269 1900 or email enquiries@hta.gov.uk
