Staff benefits

The HTA provides a range of staff benefits and provides an excellent working environment for a diverse group of staff.

We are committed to the well-being of our people and offer flexible working arrangements to create a greater work/life balance, an employee assistance helpline, generous annual leave entitlement, exercise subsidies and optional health assessments and vaccinations.

Our benefits are available from a staff member's first day.

Annual leave

32.5 days of annual leave per year. Plus the option to buy or sell holiday days at the beginning and mid-point of the annual leave year.

Pension

Our pension provider is NHS Pensions. It is a long-term tax efficient savings plan to produce monthly income for life at retirement or a cash lump sum and reduced monthly income for life at retirement.

Learning and development framework

A comprehensive and flexible learning and development framework which allows staff to participate in all types of training, such as soft skills and specialist technical courses. The HTA will also contribute to professional membership fees where appropriate.

Employee Assistance Programme

A 24-hour telephone and online service for specialist advice and counselling services. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Annual health and wellbeing assessment

A full assessment with a nurse of your current health, including a blood pressure check. You will receive an action plan and individual recommendations for any improvements including general advice on how to take control of your wellbeing.

Season ticket loan

An interest-free season ticket loan to save money on your annual travel costs.

Gym membership/health initiative

The HTA will subsidise your gym membership or other exercise costs (e.g. entering a marathon, hiring a tennis court, engaging a personal trainer etc.) by up to 40% per month to a maximum of £20.

Eye test

A free eye test up to the value of £10 within every 12-month period. Plus if you require spectacles for computer use the HTA will contribute up to £50 towards the costs.

Cycle scheme

Up to £1,000 interest-free loan to purchase a bike and equipment to travel to work.
